Construction ~ Week 9

We had a busy weekend, and I am behind on my blogging.  I only took pictures on Friday, and I haven't been in the house since mid-week.  I really thought I would get back over this weekend, preferably alone, but it never happened.

On the inside this week, they put small pieces of wood in between each 2x4 framing piece.  Ned did the walk-through for security on Thursday morning.

On the outside, our front porch was poured.

Siding began to go on as well.  This started early to mid-week seemed to go slow in my opinion.  But, they are doing all the trim under the eaves, etc. which takes awhile and must be done before the siding can reach the roof.

By Friday, they had done the side and the back of the garage, the side and the back of our bedroom, and some on the back middle section.  It was raining when I took these and we were late for dinner with friends, so I didn't make it around to our bedroom.  Hopefully they will finish the back this week and move around to the front.

It may seem like slow progress to you sometimes but I'm amazed at how much they've done in nine weeks! Looking good!

Hi Whitney,

I found your blog through a comment you left on Carrie's blog... We built our first home and are in the process of planning the next one so needless to say I LOVE all things home/construction/floor plans, etc! Have you posted your floor plan? Your house looks gorgeous (so far!) and I'm looking forward to following along your construction process.. Here's hoping it's a smooth one for you!

Thanks! What a beautiful, classic home. Thanks for pointing me to the floor plan! I love so much about it, especially the wide front elevation. The available lots here (in Kingston, Ontario, Canada) are much too narrow for a house like that. The lot we're considering is pie shaped and is only 35' wide at the front!! (But a nice 117' wide at the back). Right now I'm working on a floor plan that will hopefully capture everything we want while taking full advantage of the shape of the lot.

Anyways, I could go on and on about home construction :).

p.s. Avery is a doll!
