We had another good week getting back in the grove. We didn't do too much, and I didn't take one picture with my camera, so this will be pretty short. I'm going to do much better with blogging and picture-taking, even with going back to school. We have a few blog-worthy events this week, and we have some fun weekends planned this month. It felt great to type September in the title!
This week was basically work and Jen-Jen's with dinner, walks, and family time until it was time for bed. Avery and Sam both had great weeks at Jennifer's. Sam is napping well and is always happy when I pick him up. He's been sitting in the booster seat some at the table and likes to do lots of watching. Avery is napping most days at Jennifer's which makes me happy and aggravated all at the same time. I'm beyond thankful that they are in her loving home when they are not in ours.
I spent my week at school getting ready. I'm still not ready but I guess I'm close enough. There is so much change this year and I'm not sure how that all will play out. I'm excited to be back in 2nd grade so I hope all the other will not diminish that. We had open house Thursday afternoon, and I had a great turn-out. I seem to have a wonderful group of students and excited parents which is always nice. We had the day off Friday, and I ultimately decided to still take the kids to Jennifer's and enjoy a day at home. That's my favorite me time as you know, and I had a good mix of productivity and down time. I didn't know when another opportunity for a day alone would come along, so I chose to snatch it up. A great deal of time was spent on fall clothing for the kids. Shrimp and Grits took care of church clothes, but they need some outfits for the other 6 days of the week. Sales were abundant but my totals were large. I tell myself that at least Avery's clothes should last through the fall and winter. We went to Applebee's for dinner, and Sam was unusually fussy. We met Ned there so I was able to take him home while Ned and Avery finished and paid the bill.
Ned got up Saturday morning and went squirrel hunting. That is rather embarrassing for me to type. Maybe all hunting is considered to be a redneck activity, but I don't think that way of his bow hunting or duck hunting. Squirrels just sound really country or really juvenile. And in case you're wondering, we do not eat the squirrels but they are given to people who do. No squirrels are killed in vain. Anyway, the kids and I were supposed to go to a play date at the Sadlers' but Austyn was sick, so we enjoyed our morning at home. Ned got home a little before lunch and I left to go to the grocery store. Sam took a big afternoon nap once I got home, and Avery spent the majority of her rest time jumping. We now have a consequence for that. We had plans to go to a cook-out at the lake, taking Avery and leaving Sam with Mimi, but we just couldn't decide what we wanted to do. Because Sam had napped until almost 4 p.m., I knew he wouldn't take his 3rd nap and might get fussy for Mimi. Avery's lack of nap meant we couldn't stay as long as we had planned. We went back and forth until we finally decided to have a family meal at Chick-Fil-A. We had a good meal and fun time with everyone behaving. We even rode past our rental house and through our first neighborhood before coming home. Avery was singing "Call me 'Baby'" by the time we drove in the driveway. We don't hear that song often but she knows the whole chorus, aside from the baby/maybe confusion, and it's so funny. I put Avery to bed and Ned put Sam to bed once we got home, and I tried to get started on lessons plans before deciding blogging sounded a lot better.
We hope you're holiday weekend is off to a great start!
