Week in Review ~ 6/23

We had a great first week at home. I again didn't take as many pictures as I should have. I have no excuse really, but my last memory card with space is filling up since I haven't printed pictures since, oh, September.  Maybe subconsciously I'm trying to conserve space??

Sunday was Father's Day, and Ned was finishing the Member-Guest golf tournament.  He had to play early in the morning again, so we saved his cards for later.  His gift was a golf club, and he was using that already.  I was supposed to keep the nursery at church, but Avery's nose was pretty runny, so we stayed home.  Once I got Sam down for his first nap, I started feeling bad, so I laid on the couch and dozed while Avery played.  We were home before midnight the night before, so obviously I just can't hang anymore.  I started feeling better and got the macaroni and cheese in the Crock-Pot for dinner.  Ned came home mid-afternoon and we went to my parents' for dinner.  I really wanted to get pictures of Avery and Sam with Ned and my dad, but I forgot my camera.  We had a fun dinner and got home in time for bedtimes.

We stayed home Monday, and I just got things done around the house.  I wanted to see what kind of schedule Sam would get into since he wouldn't be catching quick naps in the car to and from my parents'.  He continues to do well with his naps, but his awake time is so short that he's usually getting 2 in the morning and 2 or three in the afternoon.  His mid-afternoon nap started to shorten last week, and that pattern continued.  I'm looking forward to his awake time increasing so that he consolidates some naps, but I'm not complaining.  We took a walk to the pond before lunch, and we took another after dinner that night.

I took Avery to the doctor Tuesday morning since her nose had been runny for awhile.  We go to the ENT this week, but I didn't want to wait if her ears were infected again, especially since she had been a tad unfortunate at times.  We had to wait awhile, but everyone did well.  Avery's ears were not infected, and there was no medicine for being unfortunate ;)  Anrae weighed Sam, and with his clothes, he was 13 lbs. 3 oz.  Ever since his one-month check when he hadn't gained enough weight, I've been a little worried about making sure he's getting enough to eat.  He sucks his bottles dry, but I also have to watch for overeating because of reflux.  He had gained a good amount of weight, and although he was a little short on total ounces for his weight, she said what we were doing was working.  I got a drink at Dairy Queen when we were done, and Avery was disappointed that it was too early for lunch.  We saw my uncle in the drive-thru so he came back and visited for a minute.  Even after our busy morning, Avery took a short nap and I had to get Sam back to sleep during his.  He's doing well putting himself to sleep at night and at naps, so I don't know why he's waking early.  We played outside for awhile after dinner since it wasn't so hot.

We stayed home Wednesday.  Ned got off at noon and brought us sandwiches from The Palm Tree.  The painter came by to look at the things that they missed or messed up before we moved in.  We didn't have anything major, but I was surprised by what they overlooked.  We finally decided on a swing set for Avery's birthday, and Ned ordered that.  It will arrive while we're at the beach, so he'll have one week to assemble the trillion pieces.  Sam took another short afternoon nap, but I got some planning done for Avery's birthday.  With our vacation between now and her birthday, I really need to get on the ball.

Sam was up early Thursday morning, the first time in 2 weeks.  He had come unswaddled and had gotten so worked up that I fed him a little to calm him down.  He then slept later in the morning and we had to wake him up.  Avery, Sam, and I left that morning to head to Conway Photo for Sam's 3-month portraits.  The painters arrived before I left, and I just love having people in and out of my house.  Lolli met us there to help with Avery, and everything went well.  I took Avery's dress just in case we could get a few of the two together, and by then Sam had decided he was tired.  He especially was not in agreement with Avery holding him.  We got him settled down and got a few good ones of them together.  We were kind of late leaving, but I had promised Avery Chik-Fil-A.  Being on the interstate, they were busy, but we got in and out just fine.  The painters were done when we got home, but the electrician was coming to wire my 2 Christmas light outlets in our bathroom, install some dimmers, and put a floor plug in our family room.  More work, more dust, more noise!  Ned came home early, because his new grass cutter was being delivered.  Drill was early that night, so he was gone for dinner.  Sam had a hard time getting settled for his evening catnap.  I was putting him to bed when Ned got home.

The electrician returned Friday morning to install our under-cabinet lighting that supposedly had not arrived when we moved in.  Sam took good naps through the noise in the morning, and Avery and I played in the playroom and tried to straighten it up a bit.  We are in desperate need of storage in there, and I think that will call for my first IKEA purchase.  Ned had been running errands with Jay getting ready for the Duck's Unlimited sponsor event that night, so he brought us lunch since the kitchen was a mess.  They ate with us, and then it was time for naps.  Sam took a short nap, and I could never get him back to sleep.  I'm fairly sure Avery took NO nap.  Once they got up, I trapped them in the bathroom with me so that I could shower.  My mom arrived to keep them so that I could go to the sponsor party.  We had been having big thunderstorms with lots of rain, and I felt terrible that she was out in it.  When I left it wasn't raining, but I stopped to talk to my dad who was pulling up, and it started again.  The rain was so bad while I was driving that I thought I should turn around.  The lightning was like nothing I had ever seen.  I was happy to get to the lake and find that it wasn't raining since I had no umbrella.  It was a fun evening even though I wasn't interested in the auction items.  I left early so that my parents could get home, and Ned had to stay and clean up.  Avery had a hard time going to bed, and my dad finally had to leave her screaming in her bed.  She hasn't done that in so long, so I think it was the storms, no nap, and missing me.  I washed bottles and was just getting into bed too late when Ned got home.

Sam was up at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, unswaddled.  I reswaddled him and gave him a little gripe water and was able to put him back down without feeding him.  The next thing I knew, it was almost 8 a.m., he was just starting to talk in his bed, and Avery hadn't made a peep.  The later wake-ups are nice, but we've got to figure out if it's a swaddle issue with Sam or something else.  I feel like it's time to stop but don't think he's ready.  I watched him try for 10 minutes to get back to sleep before I ever went in his room.  Once we were up, Ned went and got us breakfast.  He took his trailer to Jay, Sam took a big nap, then Avery and I went to the store.  We came home and had lunch, then Avery went down for a nap.  Sam woke up in the middle of his, but I was able to lay him in his crib and he slept an hour more.  Silly boy likes to keep me on my toes.  Sam's prescription was ready, so we planned to go to Franklin to get that.  I had to wake Avery up after a long nap, and I think I'll really try not to do that again.  We did our shopping in Farm Fresh then headed home.  Sam was getting hungry but didn't cry the entire time.  Avery pointed out when he was, like I could miss that in the car.  Ned cooked steaks on the grill for dinner when we got home, and I fixed asparagus, mushrooms, and bread.  It was a yummy, and Ned, Avery and I played in the playroom after we finished.  Ned put Avery to bed, then cut the grass.  Our grass was a big joke Friday night with our neighbors as they were telling us we were going to get fined because it was so tall, but that we needed to keep letting it grow so it wouldn't pull the roots up.  Ned just wanted to test out his new ride, so I doubt he cared if he killed it our not.  We no longer have standing water, but we have some bald spots where water stood.

I put Sam to bed, did a few things, then tried out my big tub for the first time.  Now it's probably past time for us to be in bed after our late night last night.

You sound just like me! I abhor people in and out of my house too. Henry wakes up between 6 and 7 most days. He naps around 9 and 1 and goes to bed about 6:30. Gotta go, both kids are crawling all over me!
