Ned took Avery to church Sunday morning and I stayed home with Sam. His nap ended as they walked out the door, of course, but sometimes that's how it goes. Avery and I went to the store after they got home and bought groceries. Walmart has had a baby doll in a rocking chair when you walk in, and Avery is obsessed with it. She loves all over it, and I can't imagine she's the only one to do so. We rushed home to fix hot dogs for lunch. One day I'll learn not to have to buy what we're eating for lunch minutes before we need to eat, because it leads to a mad dash when we get home. During naps I made Crack Potatoes for dinner. After nap time, Avery and I rode to Lexi's house to pick up my necklace from her jewelry party. Mason and Levi were outside so we visited for a few minutes. While we were gone, Ned and Sam went to get gas for the grill so that we could cook hamburgers. After dinner we played outside.
Sam needed a little movement. Not sure why Avery looks like the world has ended.
We were all home for Memorial Day which was nice. Ned worked in the yard and garage and got our last things from storage in the morning. After lunch he helped me out while I did lesson plans and got everything ready for the next day. We tried to get a few pictures in our red, white, and blue, but Sam only felt photogenic for a few minutes.
We were up and moving Tuesday morning. My wake-up of 5:30 is coming early, but I wanted to make sure we had plenty of time, especially since I'm dropping off at two places right now. Ned helped by getting up with Sam all week if he woke up in the night to eat. He's also in charge of Sam in the morning, whether it's feeding him if he needs to eat or just getting him up. Once I'm ready, I get Avery up and ready. We got out the door with everyone and everything and had plenty of time. I had a good day at school, and the teachers and even the students seemed happy to see me. I haven't missed working, but I have missed the people I work with. Once the day was over, I picked everyone up and we went home. Sam had a great day with my mom and she discovered that rocking him in his rocker gets him to sleep without the fussing and squirming that rocking him often does.
We did it all over again Wednesday, and I wasn't feeling as tired as I thought I would. Ned got off at noon and cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed. What a treat! He says he'll do the vacuuming this summer, which is a chore I'll gladly pass on. I think instead of the Dyson we should have gotten the robot vacuum and just left it going continuously. I was told to expect dust and dirt once we moved in while things settled, but good grief. I hate grit under my feet and hardwood floors don't disguise it like carpet.
Thursday my students took their science SOL. Science is my subject so I proctored both sessions which made for a pretty easy day. We had a meeting with the superintendent at the high school after school, so Ned picked up the kids. The meeting was about the budget, and I was happy to hear no teaching positions were being cut. I had planned to leave the meeting and pick up Sam's prescription, but the only pharmacist that will fill it hadn't worked since I called it in. Ned left for a fire as soon as I walked in the door, but luckily dinner was leftovers.
I was happy to see Friday arrive, although it arrived with a slight cold for me. I stayed well all winter even though I was in and out of doctors' offices and the hospital. Three days back at school and the germs got the best of me. I picked up Avery first that afternoon so she could see Lolli when I picked up Sam. We had a downpour and storm before leaving school, but it had stopped when I got Avery. We visited with my mom for awhile, and then it started pouring again. When it slowed up a little I got everyone to the car. Sam had a fantastic week with Lolli and gets to go back again next week. He napped really well for her in the rocker. I'm not sure if it's because he's falling asleep on his own in the rocker but I'll take what I can get. She is giving him the pacifier but if that works that's fine. We got home without going through any big rain, and Ned brought us all McDonald's nuggets for dinner. Ned held Sam once Avery went to bed so that I could get some things done. Cleaning downstairs bathrooms and getting rid of piles in the garage may not make for an exciting Friday night for everyone, but these days it feels good to get things accomplished. Ned did sneak out to get a sweet treat for us from Bojangles.
Saturday we all got up and ate breakfast. Ned left to help Lucas lay a tile floor. I attempted Lolli's way of getting Sam to nap, and it worked, but it was a short nap which she said he had been doing in the morning. He wasn't the happiest when he woke up but we went outside anyway. Avery was so glad that her house and slide finally arrived at our house Friday, so she was eager to check them out. Sam had to take a few laps in the stroller and then was happy to hang out there and in my lap.
Ned filled in the low places in our yard and the ducks stopped visiting. All the rain Friday brought them back, though.
Sam seemed to grow a ton while I was at work Friday. He looks so big these days.
We went inside to give Sam a bottle and put him down for a nap. He was back up in 30 minutes but I got him back down and he slept so well. He was in his rocker for a total of almost 3 hours. We have no idea if it's the Prevacid + Alimentum combination, age, or something else, so we're sticking to what we doing while it works. While he slept, Avery watched Barney and I ate lunch, then Avery ate. She also played with foam stickers...very entertaining but very messy.
She went down for her nap, and I figured Sam would get up, but he slept until his next bottle, giving me about an hour to myself. Sam got up and ate and I played with him. I put him back down and got Avery up from her nap. She was excited because we were going to Franklin to get Sam's prescription and eat at Fred's with Lolli and Poppa. She was also excited because she filled up her first potty chart in less than 2 weeks. She's been peeing like a pro since the fall but always poops at nap time or night. Her poops were hit or miss, so I started talking up the chart and a prize for filling the 10 spaces. She chose to get Bitty's booster seat and is thrilled it's on the way. We've started another one for smaller items since we still need a bit of work.
Ned was at Lucas's longer than expected so we were late leaving home. Sam got hungry on the trip and was unhappy part of time. That thankfully hasn't happened in awhile. Ned fed him while Avery and I went in Farm Fresh. Sadly, Starbucks did not have the cake that Ned and I fell in love with while I was in the hospital having Sam. We met Lolli and Poppa at Fred's and enjoyed some fried pickles while we waited for our meal. Everyone did great and Avery even pooped on the potty twice there. It was past Avery's bedtime when we got home, so Ned put her to bed. Ned left to help Lucas grout and I just kept Sam awake and did bath and bedtime a little early. We're ready to move that 9 o'clock bedtime up a bit, and he seems to be too. I enjoyed my extra free time by watching the end and then the beginning of You've Got Mail. It's always a good day when I find that on TV.
We're ready to start a new week! I'm in countdown mode, Sam will celebrate his three-month birthday, and we'll enjoy our last weekend with no big plans between now and the end of July.
