What a week! Between sickness, doctor appointments, and meetings, there were times I didn't know whether I was coming or going.
I woke up early Sunday morning with a headache. I knew I needed to get up and take something, but I couldn't drag myself out of bed. Ned had a house fire to go to, and judging by the time, I knew he wouldn't be back in time to get Avery up. By the time I got up, everything from my neck up hurt...head, face, ear, throat, etc. I got Avery some breakfast and laid down on the couch. Ned brought home Bojangles, but he knew I was sick when he tapped on the window to show me and I shook my head. I got down one Bo Round. I went to take a sip of my Pepsi and discovered sweet tea, which I despise. I napped on the couch and finally was able to eat some breakfast. We all rested during nap time, and Ned went to the grocery store for the few things we needed.
Friday was the only afternoon I was home at my usual 4:30 p.m. I had my check-up on Monday, but had missed my chance for blood work. I went back to do that Tuesday afternoon before PTO. I made it home about 8 p.m. Ned picked up Avery both afternoons and I was missing my time with her.
On Wednesday afternoon we had a staff meeting so Avery and I were late getting home again. Her nose had been running off and on, so I took her to the doctor Thursday afternoon. Just as I suspected, the prolonged runny nose meant her right ear was infected. We go back in a month for a check, and if there's still a problem we'll see the ENT. We won't have another fall/winter like last year. Avery stood on the big scale and weighed in at 26 pounds (with clothes). She loved talking to Dr. Applewhite and doesn't mind her looking in her ears anymore. We would have had a tear-free visit if she hadn't pinched her fingers and then gotten a flu shot. Ned picked up a pizza since we were almost 6 p.m. getting home.
Avery had a great week on the potty, staying dry most days. We had a few accidents in big girl pants but those are to be expected. She's doing great telling us when she needs to go and ends the day covered in stickers and full of mini M&Ms. This week I think we're going to underwear full-time except for nap, night, and possibly the car to and from Jennifer's. I see the need for some type of travel potty or potty seat. I also see the need for an additional potty at the house as I am tired of climbing stairs. That may mean that we have a potty in the kitchen, but that's ok.
We were all glad to see Friday come. We celebrated the end of the week with a trip to the Mexican restaurant with Mimi. On Saturday, Avery and I went to a play date. She had a great time playing with her "buddies" Mason and Caleb. She even got to hold Mason's tiny brother Levi. I hope it's as exciting when it's our tiny baby. She wasn't as thrilled when I held Levi. During nap, Ned and I went for a cabinet meeting and confirmed the fact that cabinets are expensive. Avery was just getting up when I got home, and we got ready for Lolli and Poppa to visit. We all went to the house and then had dinner at Cracker Barrel. Avery was not interested in her grilled cheese which meant Mama at half of that in addition to her apple streusel french toast. Avery went right to bed when we got home and I was not too far behind her on the couch.
Our weekends seem very full these days, but after tough weeks at school, any time with family and friends is the best thing ever.
