Construction ~ Week 17 & 18

Things are moving along slowly but surely at the house.  The electrician seems to be plugging along, though I wish he would plug a little faster.  I'm still not seeing any wires in the downstairs so I'm hoping their coming this week.  Heating and air started at the end of last week, and I'm not sure where they are.

We are still waiting on cabinet prices from Ned's friend.  Sometimes I think it's best not to do business with your buddies.  We got prices on KraftMaid at Lowe's to have a starting point and went completely over our cabinet budget in just the kitchen and laundry rooms.  We called back with some changes and were told that we could no longer get prices there because the Lowe's is closing.  We do have two Lowe's that aren't too far but just a few minutes away was really convenient.  We're hoping that the design work can at least be transferred.  We're going to get prices from two other men and just hold our breath.

If it dries out enough this week they're going to get the yard ready and move the dirt up around the house like it needs to be.  They are also supposed to put our columns up and finish the porch.  That's all that Clint and his men can do right now.  The rest is all sub-contractors.  We have been told that the hurricane really backed us up, especially with the electrician.  I feel like if people would work each day we might get unbacked!

Ned finally met with Clint last week with some questions we had.  I was tired of waiting for a night we could all meet.  He projects we'll be in the house in February.  We were at a party last night with Clint and his father.  His father does all the projections and said that in July he was predicting we would be in in November.  I almost wish I hadn't heard that, even though I'm not so sure how realistic it is.  He says January-February so I'm hoping my January wish will work. out.

Next week I'll share some of the good deals we've gotten with Lowe's closing.  Now we need a place to store it all and a prayer that anything that runs will do so when we go to use it.
