Week in Review ~ 1/21

It was another good week of everyone adjusting to Mama on the couch.  Any week where I'm still home and Sam is still in is considered a good week!

On Sunday, Ned and Avery went to church.  When they got home, I learned that Ned had spent Sunday School time in Avery's classroom.  In addition to everything going on with me, none of her classmates were there and neither was the young girl who Avery really likes that helps.  I think Avery and Ned had a good lesson.  After Avery's nap, Ned took her to Lolli and Poppa's to spend the night.

Ned hunted Monday morning and then we went to my appointment.  He was late getting ready and then decided he needed to make a cup of coffee, so by the time we left 10 minutes late, I was sure my blood pressure would be a wreck.  It wasn't though, and my protein and non-stress test were good as well.  The doctor was still in surgery, so another one checked all my info.  I don't think she quite knew why I was there.  She was also surprised that I had never done the 3-hour glucose test.  Ned and I picked up lunch when we were done (a splurge for me on this "diet") and then went to my parents' to wait for Avery to wake up from her nap.  She slept a long time, and then we all went home.

Both Tuesday and Thursday were normal days with Ned taking Avery to Jennifer's, working, and picking her up.  I tried to keep busy with lots of Internet shopping for the house and for Sam.  I also worked on house things and finally started reading Nicholas Sparks's The Best of Me.  Thursday was my birthday, and I celebrated with chicken nuggets from Wendy's and a Kelly Moore camera bag from Ned and Avery.  Avery also gave me a monkey card that high fives when you open it.  She was very proud of that.

Avery stayed home with me Wednesday morning since Ned would be home at 12.  We made out just fine.  She plays so well and didn't ask me to get up to get anything.  When she started slowing down and getting hungry around 11:30, I just turned on a Barney.  I was glad Ned didn't have to make all those trips driving her around, and it was nice for him to be home way before dinner so he wasn't rushing.  We've also had help with dinners which have been a huge weight off our shoulders.

I went back to the doctor Friday, and when I learned that I'd be waiting for her to deliver a baby, I sent Ned to Lowe's to browse around.  Luckily, she wasn't too long and I got another good report.  My top BP number was a little high, but I told her what they've been running at home, so she concluded it was probably the stress of the doctor's office.  She did decide that it was best for me not to return to work.  Ned and I had already decided that, but I did want to hear what she thought.  We just didn't feel like a few days of work would be worth risking me back in the hospital for good until Sam arrives or an early arrival.  The doctor is planning on inducing me around 38-39 weeks.  I have yet to tell her my goal and plan for 37 weeks.  I am thankful for each good appointment and making it a few days longer, though.  My mom picked Avery up, so Ned and I headed home after the appointment.  He went to work to help close up, and then he picked up Mexican.  It was delicious, and while I tried to stay in my carb limit (or what I think it should be) I still enjoyed myself.

Ned hunted Saturday morning then picked Avery up before lunch.  I got sucked into eBay looking for things for Sam and have realized it could get dangerous.  Not knowing when exactly he'll arrive does make it tricky.  Ned had to meet the man who is installing our cabinets during Avery's nap.  She of course took forever to fall asleep, and I was nervous she never would.  Ned was quick, but she was quiet by the time he came back.  That night, my parents came to celebrate my birthday.  We had pizza and then my traditional birthday cake from the lady who has done all my cakes for everything.  It was all delicious.  I did watch how much pizza I ate and measured out the ice cream, but I know the cake blew it all out of the water.  I have changed my diet quite a bit, so I don't think an occasional treat will hurt.  My numbers were good at my last appointment, and they were good in the hospital after eating 2 bowls of Frosted Flakes.  I would say Frosted Flakes are a good test of how I can handle sugar.  I honestly think I'm ok, but I still am watching.

Last weekend, I told Avery my birthday was coming up, and we've sung Happy Birthday to everyone we know all week long.  She was ready to sing to Mommy when the cake came out.
