Oh Twoodles!

Avery had a wonderful 2nd birthday party!  The planning started way back in the winter when I picked out these invitations from Dimple Prints on Etsy.  The blurriness is where I used Picasa to mark out our information.

Mrs. Kitchen, who has made all my cakes for everything since birth, made the delicious cake.  The fondant decorations came from this seller on Etsy.  I was so nervous waiting for them to arrive in the mail in the scorching heat, but they arrived in perfect condition.

I used little sand buckets for centerpieces with various Mickey cutouts from this Etsy shop.  Even though I hate getting balloons and then disposing of them, I tied some to each of the buckets.

The birthday girl was ready to go, and even got in a pre-party snack before things got started.

Gifts accumulated quickly!  The banner came from Sweet Bug A Boo and was so cute.  Boy do those Etsy totals add up!

Once everyone arrived, we started opening gifts.  Avery's first card was from Kristin, Lucas, and Emerson and played a Mickey song.  Ned and I had the same card for her.  Someone finally had to swipe it because she wouldn't pay attention to her gifts.

But boy were gifts fun!

Ned and I gave her a food set and pots and pans.  Mimi and Grandaddy gave her fridge and pantry foods.

All of that was perfect for her new kitchen!

Ned and I also gave her this pizza set.  It is her favorite toy in the nursery at church, and I was so happy to find it on Amazon.  She had to have her "tata" open right away.

Ned helped Avery and Hunter in the kitchen.

We finally pulled her away from cooking for some cake.  She waited so patiently.

Everyone sang Happy Birthday and Mama blew out the candles.  Avery was too busy watching everyone.  Then, Avery remembered that last year she got to dig right in.  Luckily, she only sampled a polka dot.

The birthday girl got some cake and ice cream, but kept a close eye on Hunter and Emerson who had made their way to her kitchen.

Avery kindly shared her peppers and cheese with Baby E.

After a fun, fun party, it was time to clean up and go home.

It was a great party, but the best part of the day occurred back at home.  Avery was so concerned when Ned and Billy took her kitchen out to the car.  She was relieved to see it in there on the way home, then asked for it over and over while we waited for Ned to get the pizza.  He brought it in while she had her back turned, and oh her face when she saw it!  She shrieked and screamed and jumped and clapped.  I only wish I had know to get it on camera.  Lolli and Poppa agreed that that was the best part of the day too.

I'm already thinking about loose themes for next year's party.  I know whether big or small, it will be at HOME.  I'm sure party places are great if you only have to show up with a few things, but when you're transporting sausage dip, cheese ball, decorations, and everything else you need for a party, it's a bit much.  It's certainly worth it for Avery, but she would have been just as happy with close family and friends at home.  And yes, we did have more than 2 children, I just wasn't the photographer for once and didn't get any of the family and friends that came to celebrate Avery's special day.  We are thankful for all of them and appreciate how much they love our 2 year old!

Looks like Avery had a GREAT party and had a BLAST! I really enjoyed watching Paisley at her party this year...she was so into everything (especially gifts) and it's funny that you said Avery was into her singing card b/c Paisley was too! In fact, it's 3 weeks later now and she's still singing with her Minnie card! LOVE the kitchen set you guys gave her! I know she will enjoy it for a long time! And everything looked great! I LOVED planning for this party theme! It will be interesting to see if we have the same theme idea next year...haha! Hope Avery's 2 year appt went well yesterday...we had to go in y'day morning as Paisley developed a rash over the weekend on her tummy, bottom half of legs and lil rump...NO idea what it's from but Dr assured us it was harmless and NOT contagious. We'll see!
