Construction ~ Week 2

At first glance, it doesn't appear that too much went on this week.

However, I think things were quite busy.  See the tractor?  Avery is hoping Mr. Clint includes that with the house.

This week the brick was finished around the foundation, the foundation was waterproofed (that's the black around the bottom), and rock was put in the garage in preparation for the cement to be poured.  I'm sure there was some other stuff going on, but we haven't gotten out to walk around this week.

Behind the scenes, we picked out our doors and finalized our siding.  I like when we have to do things that are a part of closing the house up, because it will look like a house then.  Ned also had to make a call to the power company to get that set up.

I don't think they worked today, because they are waiting on our roof trusses, which will come Tuesday, and the form that goes in the porch for pouring it.  The plan for next week is to get the garage and porch poured, and then I think they'll begin laying the sub-floor.  Our contractor will be at the beach the same week that we are, but the men will be here busy working.  I'm afraid we're going to miss an exciting week of framing that week, so I'm hoping to find a camera that my mother-in-law can take some pictures with.  We may have to request a picture message!

They're moving very quickly, but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself as far as hoping we'll be in it earlier.  Plus, the quicker they move, the quicker I'll have to make decisions.  Ned was moaning today about having to make decisions about a security system, and I had to roll my eyes because this is only the beginning.
