Sam got up at 6 a.m. and then took a long, very early nap. While he slept, we had flag toast for breakfast, then Ned worked on the bargain we picked up on the way home from the ENT last week.
We are kind of anti-trampoline and swore we'd never have one. Avery loves to jump at Jen-Jen's, though, so when I saw this for $40 on a local for sale group on Facebook, I couldn't pass it up. Sam supervised the action.
After the trampoline fun, I made a tortellini salad and firecracker cookies. It was probably a little much to do in that time period, but we made it to the Wrenn's for their celebration on time. Avery had only one thing on her mind.
Sam had a bottle and hung out in the stroller while Avery rode. It's hard to imagine that he'll be in on the action next year. His little ears will have to toughen up. The horns and sirens really scared him this year.
We knew lunch would be too far in to nap time, so we left after Avery rode the firetruck. I was sure everyone would take fantastic naps after being out in the heat, but Sam did a typical short afternoon nap after a big morning one, and I don't think Avery slept at all. When we finally gave up on naps, we set off for Lolli and Poppa's.
The big festivities in my hometown were rained out last year, so we were thrilled to get in our normal spot this year.
Avery was so excited for the "hipporade."
Avery's favorites...tractors followed by fire trucks.
Avery had quite a stash going yet somehow wasn't up picking up candy.
After the parade we went to the ball field, where they serve hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Again, it was very hot as you can tell by Avery's hair.
Sam was getting tired of the heat and had missed his evening nap, so we headed back to Lolli and Poppa's quickly to share a firecracker cookie. Then it was time to hit the road and get home to go to bed. We hope your 4th was just as fun and a tad bit cooler!

I love Avery's word for the parade. SO cute! It was so hot here too. Just miserable! Sam, is getting so big!
