Saturday Randoms

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I have a bunch of crazy, mismatched thoughts about things that have been going on and things that are coming up.  Hopefully I won't lose you along the way.

**We're getting ready to go on our first big trip with Avery.  By big I mean about 5 hours, which I know many of you will scoff at.  Her longest trip has been to the beach twice, and that's 2.5 hours away.  Luckily we'll all be in the car together this time, but now we're also factoring in the potty.  We'll do Avery's first movie in the car, books, snacks, etc.  We plan to leave mid-morning, stop for lunch, and then hopefully have nap time.  Any tips or tricks from travellers would be greatly appreciated.

**I am so behind on reading, or really anything that requires my focus and attention at night.  I started What Women Fear on my Kindle awhile ago and have yet to finish it; I read most of Saving Savvy but don't think I finished it either.  I've had Nicholas Sparks's new book for weeks and several magazines and all are untouched.  I don't know why I can't focus.  I am tired at the end of the day and often have house decisions to make, and I think my brain is just too full.  Somehow I need to do better.

**I did find focus and brain cells for baby boy crib bedding and coming home outfits after our ultrasound on Wednesday.  I would be lying if I said I hadn't looked before and really had my mind made up on both.

**I've mentioned before that friendships in this season of my life, and in what I still consider "Ned's" town have been a challenge.  What I've had to realize is that some may just not be what they were, I may be expecting too much in some, or a combination of both.  Meeting new people means I put myself out of my comfort zone, which I am trying to do better about.  I've been invited to a meet-and-greet type dinner for our junior women's club this week and I'm debating whether or not to go.  I know many of these women, but many are older with older kids.  I'd really rather have play dates and shopping trips than commitments and selling tickets to functions.

**Finally, I went to Walmart on a mission this morning, and there was a lovely glow in the aisle all around these.

Do you also hear the Hallelujah Chorus?  No?  Just me?  Try it if you haven't.  I bought two to be sure I had plenty for the road.  Finding this in the store just thrills my holiday heart even more.  I know it's early, but I'm loving the decorations, commercials, and planning.  I could care less if I get anything, but I am already about to bust thinking about Avery seeing what Santa leaves.

Can't wait to see Sam's bedding. I loved both of those books and Saving Savvy has helped me so much. I am able to get 20% of our groceries as stock-up items withou spending more than I already was spending. Snacks are key for long trips. I'd totally use a pull-up too. My SIL said she told her kids that pull-ups are for anytime you might fall asleep. I am so jealous you are only 2.5 hours from the beach. Friendships are hard at this stage in our life. I tend to be friends with moms who have young kids. There are some friends that are hard to keep upmwith these days. Life just gets so busy. Are there any MOPs groups in your area? They have one here that meets at night.
