It's A.....

....healthy baby boy!  We were thrilled to see our big, active baby on the screen today.  He quickly showed us that he was a boy, and then proceeded to show off lots of moves.  I, of course, needed no ultrasound to know about those!  All measurements was good although he did want to keep his legs up parallel with his body and made things a little tough at times.  He was also quick and not much for sitting still!

I say that he's big, because he was measuring a week and three days ahead.  I'm fairly sure of the due date, so I'm a little nervous about a big baby.  Avery's 6 lbs 9.5 oz. were just great for me.  Ned and his brother were big, so that doesn't ease my fears.  I have some pictures that I will have to scan later.

I had my regular appointment as well and all looked good there.  The scale showed I hadn't gained any weight, but of course I know I gained then lost while I was sick.  I saw a new doctor and she reassured me several times that my overall weight was great and that she was pleased considering all I had been through last week.  It also hasn't been the full 4 weeks since I was in last so I'm sure that's had something to do with it.  Obviously the baby is growing.

We met Lolli, Poppa, and Avery for dinner afterwards to share the news.  I think everyone was surprised and excited that it was a boy.  Lolli already knew the name, but we announced it to Poppa.  His name will be Samuel Vincent, and we will call him Sam.  My dad and his dad are Samuel, and Ned's name is Edward Vincent Lankford, IV.  My dad got all teary like I knew he would.  We hadn't told him before just in case it wasn't a boy.

Avery was excited because we were excited, but she would still say she was having a sister.  She also said his name was Kyle.  Kyle is a little boy at the sitter's.  We'll work on that!  She's going to love that brothers come with trucks, trains, tractors, and many other of her favorite things.

We are enjoying sharing the wonderful news with the rest of our family and friends.  We are most thankful for the blessing of what appears to be a healthy baby.  And, we are excited for a sweet boy!  We would have been thrilled with a girl, but I did want a boy, and I knew deep down that Ned did as well.  He couldn't love Avery more and would love 10 daughters (minus the weddings), but I know he wants a son to share things with.  I think children are God's greatest gift, and I was put on this Earth to be a mom.  We are so thankful for what He has given us.

Now it's time to buy some blue!

I have been checking Facebook all afternoon waiting for the news. So exciting! What a blessing to have another healthy baby! You are going to love having a sweet baby boy. I wanted a girl with Evie and a boy with Henry so it worked out. Sam is one of my very favorite boy names. You know I love family names. Congratulations.

How exciting! Congratulations!! I love the name Sam -- it was one of my picks for a boy (although it was vetoed by Steve).
