Week in Review ~ 7/6

We had such a busy, fun week!  We stayed home from church Sunday because Ned was still tired and because our whole Sunday school class was going to be gone.  We took dinner to my parents' house and had fun.  They couldn't believe how much Sam's walking had improved in a week or so.

Avery had her first day of camp on Monday.

Camp is at Avery's school, and she's doing a few weeks of half-days this summer to get ready for the school year.  She was so, so excited and couldn't get through her morning check-in duties quick enough so that she could join Camden at her table.  I of course was sad because it's the start of lots of changes, she's growing up, what if she gets sad, etc.  Plus, on her very first day she was riding the bus to the library to see a movie.  They go about a mile and the kids ride in their car seats, but still, another milestone.  Sam napped at home and then we played before picking Avery up after lunch.  Avery's only tears had come in the bathroom, and the only thing that we can figure is that everything is bigger, louder, and different.  The tears turned off when she came out of the bathroom.  On the way home we stopped for some red, white, and blue decorations for her bike.  Ned was late getting home because he was working by himself all week.  By the time he got home and ate it was time for me to pick up Anna to go to Bracey's Mary Kay party with our consultant friend Kristen.  I have used Mary Kay before but had never been to a party with others, so that was fun.  I picked up a few things to compare to my Clinique.

Avery went back to school Tuesday and had a few tears over washing her hands when we arrived.  We got through that and she was happy to play.  After Sam's nap we had lunch at The Palm Tree because we were out of bread.  We are going through bread at a rapid pace this summer.  We picked up Avery and were home the rest of the day.  After Sam went to bed, we decorated Avery's bike for her bike parade.

Wednesday was a fun day.  It was Avery's bike parade and picnic.  Sam and I dropped Avery off then dropped off her bike.  Sam squeezed in a quick nap before we picked up our chicken tenders for the picnic then headed to the parade.  The kids broke up their bike laps by singing for the nursing home residents and having popsicles.  Avery is not fast on her tricycle and she's finally said her little legs were tired.  Ned joined us there to see her riding, then it was time for the picnic.  We had fun eating with the Millers and feeding Sam in his stroller.  Avery was too excited to nap at home, and Sam's afternoon naps are just all off lately.  By afternoon time things were crazy.  We planned to go to the pool but had yet another storm.  Avery was so wound up, so I was thankful to escape to the Mexican restaurant with Anna and Kristen.  I think their air conditioning was broken but we still sat in there 3 hours.

Thursday was the 4th of July!

Avery had her last day of school Friday.  I have learned that is is hard for a teacher to also be a parent, because I'm so worried about doing or not doing the things I like or don't like to see from my parents at school.  Did I check the folder?  Does her lunch look fairly healthy?  Maybe it will be my reminder that we're all human.  Avery had a few times of tears at school but I think she was just tired from the day before.  She napped and Sam did not.  After nap time we went to Walmart for Avery to choose her treat for filling up her brave in bed chart.  She chose Tangled so that she can watch it in the car.  I also let her try out some bikes, because Ned was mortified at how small her tricycle looked.  I think she needs the little bike, but everyone else seems to think bigger is better.  We had dinner at home and put Sam to bed early.

I got to sleep in Saturday and Ned got up with the kids.  Once I got up he left to go run a few errands.  Sam napped and Avery and I got busy with laundry and an extremely long to-do and get ready list.  That pretty much sums up our day with each of us running around getting things done.  Sam didn't nap until 3 p.m. and had gotten in his bed at 1:30.  We tried to go to FoSho for dinner, but they were closed, so we went to Applebee's.  It was more of the same once the kids went to bed....work work work.

Avery is looking so big! Wow, a field trip. So fun! I agree- being a mom and a teacher is crazy. I try to be nice, let them do their job and send little gifts but I am sure that still annoy them sometimes! Bikes are a milestone too. Evie loved hers until she fell off. Now, she is not so sure. Hope Sam's naps get better. Henry's are still short! We did not realize how good we had it with Evie. Ha!
