11 Months

Avery is eleven months old today! Where has this year gone? Since we haven't been to the doctor recently, we have no official height and weight updates, but I think she's done some growing in both areas. She can still wear 12 month clothes but is fitting into all the 12-18 month clothes for summer. She still wears a size 3 diaper. Avery's sleep habits remain about the same.

Avery's eating has slowed on some days. She is really enjoying table food, and there are days when I worry she's given baby food up for good. That would be good on my wallet, but it's so much easier to be able to offer her a variety of healthy baby food. It also seems like sometimes she's refusing for us to feed her and much prefers to do it with her fingers. Feed her with an adult fork off an adult plate and she happily complies. We discovered this month that Avery is fully capable of drinking from a cup, she is just choosing not to at times. Offer her food or a cup she doesn't want, and it's a good possibility that she will get mad, especially if she's teething. We're still at 4 teeth but I'm pretty sure she's working on some now. I'm so tired of getting snickers when I whip out my Pampered Chef Mix n Scraper for her to chew on that I'm going to break down and order her this. The Mix n Scraper also gets flailed around like a baton, and there was worry of her wacking someone with it at church Sunday (not to mention the drool flying from it).

Moving on to moving...boy has she taken off! Avery started crawling a little over 2 weeks ago and now looks like she's been doing it forever. This month she also started getting into a seated position from stomach, waving bye-bye, and pulling up. Just yesterday I noticed her little feet slowly moving her around her activity table. That's called cruising my friends, and I'm not ready! She still enjoys her toys but is also happy crawling around getting into whatever she can find. We'll never need bells on her shoes to keep up with her, and she'll never be able to sneak up on anyone. She is constant sound with each crawl she makes. She likes to test her full range of sound in the car...sometimes happy sounds and sometimes not. She continues to ride rear-facing as she is not one yet, but she will continue to for some time. We are certainly willing to listen to some squawks in order to keep her safe and wish more parents would do the same.

And because I have a REAL baby (unlike the babies I read about on Facebook who never cry and are already running marathons and eating steak), of course there are issues. We came off the medicince for constipation this month after having to add Milk of Magnesia because the medicine wasn't cutting it. After a week or so of explosive poops, we stopped everything but have had to add the medicine back once a day. Avery continues to be quite the little biter, although I do not believe she's doing it in anger...yet. She's been super happy since she started crawling, and our fussiest times occur at meals now when we're just not getting her messages. Avery goes by the book of Avery and not any of the baby books I've read. She is God's way of adding a little "fly by the seat of my pants" to my life!

We said good-bye to Jen-Jen last Friday and are now home for the summer. What a busy summer it will be! We have plans for 4th of July, a beach week, and a birthday bash! Avery continues to keep us on our toes while filling our lives with love and laughter.
