You may remember that I
posted about some tests Avery had done to check the calcium level in her urine. The condition that she
could have
could lead to kidney stones. Ned talked to the pediatrician today so I don't know all the details, but I did hear just what I had prayed to hear...everything is fine!
I could be the dictionary illustration for worrier, and I must say I had done pretty well over the last 2 weeks as we waited for results. I did Google the condition once, and I did think about it, but I tried really hard to pray for things to work out for the best, whatever that was. The holidays and other busyness in our lives probably helped keep my mind off of it. But, I was obviously worried, because when I got Ned's text today I could have cried right there.
I don't feel like I had on my best pair of thankful pants for Thanksgiving. Or maybe I did, they were just hidden by the other "layers" moms wear. I
was thankful, and we
did have a great Thanksgiving. I also lost my patience, felt a little stressed, a little tired. I'm sure the various gatherings that required accommodating family members and rearranging schedules, the two-year-old with a cough and random bouts of the twos, a hunting husband, and my own agenda for what needed to be done contributed to all of that.
As we all rode somewhere over the weekend, I had Josh Groban's Christmas CD in (Ned was loving it.). I was really able to listen to
Thankful for the first time. Just like Avery's good report today, it was a quiet reminder. No matter who you are, we all have times where we need to breathe, find a smile, and give thanks.
Thankful
Some days we forget
To look around us
Some days we can't see
The joy that surrounds us
So caught up inside ourselves
We take when we should give
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for
Look beyond ourselves
There's so much sorrow
It's way too late to say
I'll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth
It's so long overdue
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And every day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for
Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each other's light
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though this world needs so much more
There's so much to be thankful for
